When a meteor fragment slams into a California beach, several strangers slowly discover that they have been imbued with cosmic powers.
So, for those following the process of getting this thing off the ground, about a year and a half ago, I came up with the above concept. It was planned as a web series and the idea was to explore what happens to average people who suddenly discover superhuman powers. Taking my cues from my background in comics and my passion for Film and Television, I wanted to tell a story that isn’t exactly an origin story, but doesn’t quite show a team of superpowered people forced to work together to save the planet.
I wanted to hit that point after shows like Heroes and Misfits – so Incidentals was born. I went into pre-production on a trailer and shortly after I met Dave Steward II, CEO of digital comics publisher Lion Forge Comics. I pitched it, and it just so happened to fit in with the superhero universe they were building at Lion Forge. They wanted a world with powerful heroes that could eventually rival DC and MARVEL. Why not? It’s fun.
So here we are about a year and half later. I created the characters, Lion Forge has brought on comic book veteran, Joe Casey (Uncanny X-Men, Ben 10, W.I.L.D.Cats) to pen the first arc of the book series and then IDW will release a Trade Paperback that combines these first issues sometime next year.
In the meantime, I have been focused on expanding the 10 minute web series pilot episode into a 60 minute pilot for cable. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as things progress.
Enjoy the week!
