2014: Hitting a Reboot

Welcome to the new, updated page!

It’s been an incredible year, and I’ve revamped this page to reflect the expansion.

Black Mast Studios is in its 3rd year of business and we are growing exponentially.
I can’t wait to show you what’s been in development all year and announce the new partnerships we’ve established.

ON THE BUSINESS-CREATIVE FRONT

In January, I head to St. Louis, MO to meet up with the guys from Lion Forge Comics.
I’m shooting something pretty cool for their marketing department, which will be released sometimes in March.

January also brings with it the launch of the Ancient Explorers community website.  If you’re into ancient pyramids, mayan calendars, and wish you were Indiana Jones, this is something you have to check out.  It’s a passion project of mine, and the years of hobby research have finally been put to some use.  We’ve got a community forum, location reports, interviews with experts, and detailed blogs.

Machu Picchu

In February, I will head to Peru, land of the Incas, where I’ll be shooting a short film on location in Lima and in some of the ruins of Cuzco and Machu Picchu.
I can’t reveal too much about it yet, but I will say it’s something a little more personal.
I’ve been wanting to do a heartfelt “indie” project for some time now, and I’m thrilled about being able to shoot in South America again.
The last time I was there was for a month during the summer of 2012. We shot a portion of the Ancient Tomorrow documentary in and around La Paz, Bolivia.

In March, we’re releasing the first issue of Universal Heroes comic book. It’s part of a transmedia project I’m directing, and you’ll be introduced to a world where shadows attempt to control humanity through energy manipulation.  You’ll meet the warriors chosen to help fight this secret battle between good and evil, and even learn a bit about Qi Gong, Taoism, and Yoga.  It’s a pretty cool project, and I can’t wait until the comic portion of it is finished.  We’ve got DC/Wildstorm/LionForge Artist Eddie Nuñez on board for pencils and inks.  Here’s an example of his work:
Nunez Xmen

I have plenty more scheduled in 2014, but there’s really no need to bore you any further with the details of my calendar.

IN MY PERSONAL LIFE

This past year I’ve been soooo focused on work, that I haven’t stayed in tune on a spirit-body level.   I’m completely redesigning my eating habits and exercise routine, and going back to a regular energy cultivation practice.  I’ve found the results to be so powerful, that I think 2014 is a great opportunity to pave the way for an even better 2015.  I’m also learning Japanese, and if all goes well, I’ll have a great reason for it to share with you in a few months.

I’m looking forward to revealing more in the upcoming months, but for now, thanks for stopping by the page.

If you haven’t already, click on www.blackmaststudios.com and sign up for my monthly e-mail list.  I hate spam, so you’ll only get updates when there’s news to share. Catch up with you soon!

Enjoy the Holidays!
